Our Story

Our Story Image

Tara and I actually met in 3rd grade. We went to the same summer camp for several summers and would see each other there. Jon remembers that Tara liked him before he liked her, but the details are getting foggier as time passes. We started dating late in high school and then all through college. We both wanted to follow Jesus with our lives and make the biggest eternal impact we could with our time on earth. We have been married now for thirteen years and love living and growing together. We’ve

been blessed to be in the middle of some great surroundings. For the first six years of our marriage, we were able to live in inner-city Philadelphia and be a part of a budding ministry in the West Kensington section of the city. Among other things, God used our time there to soften our heart for all children. About seven years ago, we made a big move to the Midwest to come on staff at a church where Jon serves as Children’s Pastor. The experiences here have continued to stir in us compassion for those who need a family. Along the way, God has blessed us with three great children: Elli, Ethan, and Elisha. They each add a different flavor to our family with their unique personalities.

We have always considered adoption as a real option for our family. We got serious about it when Jon’s sister, Beth, and her husband adopted three awesome kids about ten years ago. However, we had our three biological children close together, which put adoption on hold until recently. We felt moved again as we read several books and articles about the orphans of the world, and we heard moving stories from friends who had adopted.  These discussions, along with much prayer, helped to give us some direction as we moved forward. We became aware of a need through an agency in our state that they currently have more birth-moms than adopting families. This seemed like an open door to us and a need in front of us right now. We are excited about this new adventure and are looking forward to the boy or girl that God will place in our family. We have been saving up money for the last few years. Will you help us raise the final costs we need?
