Camilo and Sara live in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California. Camilo is a Behavior Technician currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in ABA. Sara is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. Both work with children with Autism. This adoption will be a first child for both. Sara has dreamed of building her family through international adoption since she was a young girl. Once they met, they decided they were going to pursue adoption as the means of building their family.
They are adopting a boy or girl from Colombia. They have not yet received a referral, but are attempting to adopt a child aged 0-2 years. They have requested a child who is as healthy as possible, but he/she may have some minor special needs. Camilo is a Colombian citizen who moved to the U.S. when he was 17 years old. Because of this, they will be able to help their child continue to explore their birth culture while helping them adjust to their new life in the U.S., and balance both parts of who they are.
This process began almost 2 years ago, in January 2015. It was temporarily placed onto hold, but Camilo and Sara are so excited to be able continue this journey. Though they know they will continue to fight for their child, no matter what, the costs of adoption are extensive. Adoption from Columbia requires one trip that is 2-5 weeks. All donations provided will be used to cover costs including domestic/program fees, international fees, and travel. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
