1 Big Dream + 3 New Team Members = More Opportunities For Families
It’s been an honor to offer HALO Program annually the last three years. Each round has been an incredible opportunity to walk alongside foster and adoptive families. As we have learned the ropes and seen the need, we started dreaming big about offering HALO twice a year.
We are thrilled to announce that this year, for the first time, Village to Village is offering both a fall and spring version of HALO Program!
That milestone would not be possible without organic growth, an expanding team, and the generosity of partners who believe in creating hope and healing for children and families.
What Is HALO?
HALO is an intensive, 10-week intervention designed for foster and adoptive families. Rooted in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®). Each family receives approximately 50 hours of therapeutic support through three connected components: trauma education classes for caregivers, kids club for children, and family therapy.
Rather than simply focusing on changing a child’s behavior, HALO creates an environment where children and caregivers can build connection, learn practical tools, process trauma, and develop healthier relationships. HALO Program helps families move from simply surviving to finding hope and healing together.
HALO is offered in South Bend, and we have had families participate from Elkhart, St. Joseph, Porter, and Kosciusko counties in Indiana, as well as Cass and Berrien counties in Michigan.
Growing Our HALO Team
When we (Matt, Anthony, and Hilary) started HALO in 2024, we were just excited to get the program off the ground. We quickly realized that many families could benefit from additional support, and we started dreaming about what it might look like to run HALO twice a year.
We kept our ears and eyes open and connected with a few women whose hearts and talents align perfectly with the mission and vision of HALO.
This summer, thanks in part to the generous support of The Pokagon Fund, we sent them to Oklahoma City for HALO training, and they are running our fall version of HALO right now. We are incredibly grateful for the investment The Pokagon Fund made in our team and, ultimately, in the families we serve.

Bridget — Kids Club Lead
Bridget brings a passion for working with children and families and has already experienced the impact of TBRI firsthand. She shared that HALO was the first intervention where she really saw meaningful change and healing happen for both youth and families.
Molly — Kids Club Assistant
Molly has been involved with HALO since the beginning as a volunteer and has a deep desire to create spaces where children and families feel fully known and valued. She brings energy, compassion, and plenty of experience connecting with kids.
Leah — TEC Lead
Leah has a heart for foster and adoptive families and has been involved with TBRI for five years. After participating in HALO in 2025, she knew she wanted to become even more involved in the program.
We are thrilled to have all three of them officially join the HALO team!
